Livery requirements for Councils in the United Kingdom

As a Private Hire driver in the UK, depending on your licensing authority’s Vehicle Licence Conditions, you may be required to display livery on your vehicle when undertaking trips.

For most councils where Livery is required, livery can be ordered via this website or collected from a Greenlight Hub.

Our understanding of which local authorities do or do not require livery is set out below. Each Private Hire Vehicle Licence holder is responsible for ensuring that their vehicle meets all licence conditions, including in relation to livery. If you have any concerns or questions about the livery requirements for your vehicle, please contact your licensing authority.

Please Note: The below only lists councils which we understand require livery to be displayed on a vehicle taking private hire trips.

For the following licensing authorities, Livery can be purchased online or in-person in the appropriate Greenlight Hub. To visit a Greenlight Hub an appointment is required. To book an appointment, please visit the ‘Help’ section of the Uber Driver App.
